Band

November:  All band students are diligently preparing for their Winter Concert

December:  Band concert is on Dec. 1st.  The concert is for 6,7 & 8 bands, as well as Jazz Band!  The concert will last approx. 1hour to 1hr. 15 min.  ALL STUDENTS are expected to stay for the entire performance.  It is part of their grade and it is away that we can support one another’s hard work and see what musical opportunities are in the horizon.

ALL STUDENTS must have their instruments, Essential Elements Book and supplies (listed below) by Tuesday, September 6th.

Flutes: Cleaning Rod and cleaning cloth (All Grade Levels)

Clarinets/Sax’s: Cleaning cloth (NOT FELT for clarinets), mouth piece mouse (NO                                           BRUSHES), 4 good playable reeds, reed holder, cork grease

Oboe/Bassoon: Cleaning cloth, 2-3 good playable reeds, reed holder

Brass: Valve oil, slide cream (NOT chapstick style), mouth piece brush,                                             cleaning snake, cleaning cloth…can be a piece of old t-shirt with no                                         writing on it (NOT a polishing cloth)

Percussion: Mallet Bag, snare sticks size 2B, 1 pair of medium yarn mallets

All Students need the following books:

Essential Elements 2000 BK #1 for 6th Grade

Essential Elements 2000 BK #2 for 7th Grade

Foundations for Superior Performance for 8th Grade

The concerts for Band are:

Tuesday Oct. 25th: 7/8 the grade Band & Orchestra 6-9 p.m.

TH Dec. 1st: Band Concert  6-9 p.m.

TH  Feb. 9th: Instrument Try-out Night 6-8:30 p.m. (volunteers only)

Sat. March 3rd: Solo and Ensemle Competition (All Day)  6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.

TH May 3rd: Band Concert Grades 6-8 :

Saturday May 5th: Music in the Parks  OR Heritage Festival competition:  ALL DAY
