I would like to welcome you to our new site! I am really excited to have this resource to communicate to parents and students about all of the activities, assignments, concerts, etc. that are coming within the 2011/2012 school year. You will see listed below each section of music a list of the current concert dates for the school year. ALL CONCERTS ARE MANDATORY AND ARE A MAJOR PART OF THE MUSIC GRADE. Students are expected to stay for the entire concert to receive their total points for the concert. Please see Mrs. Massey immediately if you have any questions.

***The only thing not scheduled as of yet is the elementary tour. We normally go around the first or second week of February. I will let you know ASAP when I can make arrangements with the elementary principals and music teachers.
CONCERT ATTIRE: All students must have a white dress shirt, black dress pants (NO JEANS!), black socks and black dress shoes. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT until the day before the concert to get your uniform.
SOLO & ENSEMBLE: Students have the option to participate in a music competition on Sat. March 3rd. They can perform a solo or ensemble in front of a judge to earn a medal. The feel is $7.00 per child. More information will be coming second semester.
Absences are detrimental to the music department. Since we are a performing class and it takes all of us working together to be successful, absences make it difficult for our classes. If a student has an excused absence, he or she has two (2) days per absence to make-up the work missed. To make-up the absence, he/she will need to spend 10 minutes of practice time before or after school or at lunch. This will enable Mrs. Massey to make sure that the student receives all missing work and assignments.
Tardies are unexcused unless the student enters the classroom with a pass. Every time a student is late for class, he or she will loose 2 points per day from their grade. After the first tardy, we will follow the school policy as listed in the student agenda.
NO GUM or FOOD is the policy for all music classrooms. Students are allowed to have clear water bottles at all times.
We look forward to another successful musical year!
