Welcome 2nd semester students

2nd Semester Health is off to a great start.  The 1st unit will focus on the Health Triangle.  We want students to be aware of all 3 aspects of health, physical health, social/emotional  health, and mental health.  Students will identify their personal strengths and weaknesses  in all areas of health.

Drugs & Alcohol

The Drugs & Alcohol unit is under way.  This unit, we will cover all of the ways that these substances can affect you and your decision making.  We will also cover the use of tobacco.  Any questions, please contact your students health teacher.

Nutrition Unit

Students are about a week into the nutrition unit.  We will focus on the 6 major nutrients (Carbohydrates, protein, fat, water, minerals, and vitamins).  Students will be able to properly read food labels and learn about the effect of sugar on the body.  We live in a fast food nation, so we will also spend some time on the long term effect of fast food.  Students will also learn about fad diets and track their food intake for a few day period.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Update of 7th grade Health Class

7th Grade Health Students have just completed the Health Triangle and are now moving on to the 9 Life Skills.  We will focus on using refusal skills and being a wise consumer.  The week of Sept. 19th-23rd, we will have the Suicide Resourse Center of Larimer County in our classes for 2 class periods.  Topics will be covered such as warning signs of depression and how to cope with problems.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
