There is a National Junior Honor Society meeting today after school in Mrs. Fuller’s room, cottage 65.  We would like both current members and new members to come so that we can explain the induction ceremony.  We look forward to seeing you all there!

Lego Robotics Club and Odyssey of the Mind: If you would like your picture in the yearbook, meet Mrs. Stoddard near the southeast cafeteria door that leads into the sixth grade hall at 7:05 tomorrow morning.

There will be a mandatory yearbook meeting on Thursday, right after school.  We will be taking our photo for the book and looking at our deadline!

Students and parents who are interested in traveling with Mrs. Massey and Ms. Miller to Italy over Spring Break of 2013 and have not yet attended a meeting should plan to meet in the ConBall choir room on Tuesday, February 28th, at 7:00 p.m.   This meeting is for students and parents who are interested in going to Italy but have not yet signed up. Students who have signed up for the Italy trip already should not attend this meeting and, instead, should mark their calendars for Tuesday, March 6th, at 7:00 p.m., when we will have a guest student speaker who will share her experiences of traveling with EFtours to Italy.  This trip is sponsored by Education First Tours Company and is not sponsored by the Thompson School District.

Thank you very much to everyone who participated in our Book Fair.  Through your efforts, we raised over $900 for the purchase of new books for our library.  Be on the look-out in the coming weeks for the new books that you have made possible!

This week, the library will be open until 4:00 on Thursday, and it’s a great place to be if you need to complete homework, work on school projects, play chess with a friend, or relax and catch up on your reading.  Everybody is welcome.

Thanks to all of you who have been clipping box tops!   The top student in each grade will receive a Metrolux gift card, and we’ve got a tight contest.  Shawn A. leads the 8th-grade contest, and he’s ahead by 36 box tops; Jordan E. is in the lead in 7th grade, ahead by 48 box tops; and Michael R. has a clear lead in 6th grade with a total of 291 box tops.   The top SSR class in each grade will get a breakfast party, and that competition is also close.  Ms. Breitbarth’s SSR class leads the 8th grade with 149 box tops; Mr. Graham’s SSR class has the lead in 7th grade with 125 box tops; and finally, in 6th grade, Mr. Clark’s SSR class leads with a total of 298 box tops.  There’s still time for these numbers to change because you have until this Friday, February 24th, to bring in box tops.  Keep clipping and saving!

Don’t forget to collect and bring in box top labels!  Our grade-level contest continues for just two more weeks.  Which SSR/Advisory class can clip out and turn in the most box tops?  All you need to do is put the clipped box top labels in a sealed baggie or envelope with your first and last name and your SSR teacher’s name on it and drop them in the barrel at the front desk.  The top student per grade level will win a Metrolux gift card.  The top classes will win a breakfast party.  Keep clipping and saving those box tops!

Eighth graders will audition at 3:00 p.m., and 6th and 7th graders will audition at 4:00 p.m. The parent forms must be completed BEFORE the auditions. See you at the auditions!

Attention All 8th Graders: Today is a very important date for you. Why? Because it is high school registration for all upcoming freshmen at each of the area high schools! The meeting is mandatory for you and your parents or guardians AND a chance to learn about the high school registration process and obtain materials so you can select classes for next year. You MUST attend the meeting at the high school for which you are scheduled to attend. At Mountain View, the evening begins at 6:00 p.m. for special programs, and 6:30 p.m. for regular registration; however, please be aware that if you are attending a different high school, each one has a slightly different start time, which can be found on our school’s website. Any questions? Please see Mrs. Clark or Mr. Davis in the counseling office.

This is an optional night for students and families who will be brand new to CBMS for the 2012-2013 school year.

Our counselors and administrators will be there to explain the registration process, inform you about elective choices, and answer any questions that you have as we enter the registration window.

This is a separate event from our annual fifth grade welcome night which will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012.
