Hello Falcon Team!

My name is Robert Denney and I am a student teacher from Colorado State University who will be working with Mr. Brown’s Literacy and Social Studies classes this semester. I am currently pursuing a degree in history with a concentration in secondary education, and plan to graduate this Spring. It has been my pleasure to work with Mr. Navidad, Mr. Brown, and your students over the last week as I try to integrate myself into the CBMS community. I look forward to spending my final semester of college as a member of the Falcon team and know that we will accomplish great things along the way! If anyone has any questions, concerns, or the simple desire to introduce yourself, please feel free to email me at:

Thanks!
-Mr. Denney

Second Semester Begins

Hello Everyone, We on the Falcon Team hope that you all had a great time over the holidays and that all the Falcon students had a good break. Tomorrow, Monday January 9, will be the first day of the second semester. We hope to see everyone arrive at Con Ball smiling and ready to get back to the work of learning.
There will be few major changes for our sixth graders as none of our electives classes are semester only. Falcons have also been going to Science and Social Studies every other day so will just continue that same pattern. One new thing that will come is that Mr. Brown will have a student teacher for the second semester. His name is Robert Denney and his first day with the team will be Monday. The students will get a chance to meet Mr Denney this week and he will get to know the team and routines this first week. We are looking forward to a good semester having another person to help work with our students.
There are many exciting opportunities for students this semester, there will be a Spring Play, Wrestling and Girls Basketball start this week, there are still many clubs to get involved in, another Family Facebook night is coming up later this month and Track will begin in March. We hope that the Falcons are well represented in these activities.
We will see you students in class this week and hope to see you parents soon, either at conferences in February or at various events this spring.

The JingleBird is Almost Here!

Hello Everyone, We hope that you are having a great weekend. The Falcon students are probably out somewhere having fun in the snow. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and warm up some over the next few days…because…Wednesday, December 7th is the day for our second Conrad Ball Middle School JingleBird WalkaThon and Wellness Day. The Falcons, and the rest of the CBMS students and staff will be walking the track, attending wellness workshops, participating in fitness sessions, and just plain having fun. This promises to be an educational and enjoyable day for all those involved. Part of the purpose is for students to raise money by getting pledges for their participation in the day. The money raised will help the Con Ball PTO provide needed materials and supplies as well as support field trips and other activities for students. Please help your student in the final weekend of this endeavor. Pledge sheets and money are due on Tuesday, Dec. 6th. Thank You!

Literacy/Social Studies Update

Hello everyone, Things continue to move along here at Conrad Ball. The Falcon students are doing a great job and are such fun to work with each day.
In Literacy we have continued to work on Spelling and Vocabulary and a variety of writing. Students are finishing up a Narrative piece that they are turning in for assessment this week. We will still work on Narrative writing but will be adding Expository writing as well. Students will be involved in a variety of reading and writing, including some small research projects.
In Social Studies we continue to focus on Geography skills but are also looking at thinking like an historian and the development of societies. Students are starting a Chronology/Timeline project that they may need some help on. Ask them to show you the pink sheet, Orange day students will get this Monday, Blue day received theirs today.
The pace of work, both in and out of class, is starting to pick up. Please check with your student regularly to see how they are doing as well as what they are learning and creating.
Please check with your student to be sure that they have and are bringing their flash-drive to school as we will be needing these on a regular basis now.
