Each year, the Loveland-Berthoud Association of REALTORS (LBAR) presents the Donald D. Evans Scholastic Excellence Award to all eighth-grade students who have maintained a 4.0 grade-point average throughout their sixth- and seventh-grade years and up to the third quarter of their eighth-grade year.Â
The award is named after Don Evans, a realtor in our community from 1963 to 1983. Prior to his real estate career, Evans worked as a public school social studies teacher and guidance counselor in elementary, junior high, and high schools; he especially enjoyed working with middle-school aged students. Upon his death, his colleagues created the award in recognition of his love of and commitment to learning.
The names of the students who receive this award created in honor of Evans are inscribed on a permanent plaque that resides at the school; additionally, their achievements are recognized with personal plaques that are presented to the recipients during our end-of-the-year 8th-Grade Awards Ceremony. Conrad Ball Middle School is proud of the academic diligence and work ethic that our students demonstrate on their way to receiving this prestigious award.
